Our “Fearless Leader”
There is not a soul who knows Alicia that would not use words like “artistic, creative, and imaginative,” to describe her. It was while working in HR for a Dallas law firm that Alicia realized her desire to work in a creatively stimulating field, and Charming Events Company was born. Charming is a dream turned reality that began on August 12, 2012 at the Fort Worth Star Telegram Bridal Show at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. Having only the will to succeed and one month to plan, the road to industry success was paved with hard work and a lot of hustle. It was from this one bridal show that her business took flight, and Charming began to create a beautiful name for itself.
Sourcing local vendors, client consultations, choosing fresh blooms, event coordination, and floral design keep Alicia’s schedule full, but down time is a welcomed friend for our leader. She enjoys spending time with her son Colton, her close circle of friends and family, and relishing in nature at her family ranch in Ft. Worth. Alicia’s life would not be complete without travel and her keen eye for home design, and should you hear the sound of good ‘ol Texas country in the air, you’ll likely find her gently rocking in a hammock nearby.
The vision for Charming is far-reaching and wide spread, and will continue to come to fruition as the business grows and thrives. Alicia is thrilled to now have all of the services offered under the title of “Charming.” She looks forward to working with you along the way.
Our “All ‘Business’ Partner”
With an extensive background in law firm office management, it was a no-brainer for Teresa to become co-owner of Charming and to manage the company’s business and financial matters. The fact that she is Charming’s “momma bear” means she is willing to go the extra mile to make sure that every aspect of the business is handled with the utmost care. Teresa’s attention to detail keeps Charming up-to-date and running as smooth as a hot knife through butter. It can be said that she creates the calm in what can only be called the storm of business management.
While her job description is endless, she handles each task with a laser-like precision and professionalism. When one hears the term “business manager,” a specific image is typically produced, but Teresa defies those stereotypes. Like any business owner, her closet is full of many hats. She is often found cleaning flower buckets, assisting with floral design, identifying vendors, acquiring new clientele, feeding the crew, setting up and tearing down events, and keeping Alicia “in-line.”
In her spare time, Teresa enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing the piano, boating with her husband, and listening to country music. Teresa is an irreplaceable “all in” member of the Charming team, and one that has helped shape the landscape of our growing dream. Charming would be a little less Charming without her unique touch on the business.
No company can survive without the loyal work of those who have been there from the beginning. Meet Denise Chambers, a cornerstone of Charming. Denise is our rock and is the most dependable gal you could meet. As our lead floral designer, Denise plays a massive role at Charming, and has had a part in almost every aspect of the company from infancy to present day. Often behind the scenes, Denise has a skillful hand in floral preparation and design. In fact, she is responsible for making nearly 85% of all corsages, boutonnieres, and bouquets that are delivered. You will also find her on the Charming crew, especially if on-site designing is required. She is relentless when it comes to hard work, and can be trusted with the most daunting of tasks. At Charming, our crew is considered our family and Denise is no exception. Teresa and Denise grew up across the street from one another so she has literally known Alicia and Teresa since big hair was cool. When she isn’t on the clock at Charming, she loves spending time with her husband of 35 years, Ronnie, their two children and four grandchildren.
Our “Catch-All Chica”
When Charming was called upon to create the floral designs for Tayler’s wedding, no one knew that she would eventually find her home as a member of the Charming crew. A teacher by trade, Tayler has the personality to be part of an energetic, growing team. Tayler has a zest for the wedding industry and has an undaunted freshness about her work. She has lovingly become our “catch-all,” and has her iron in many fires. Tayler maintains our social media, is the main point of contact for all current and future clients, handles blog submissions, works in the storefront, and hits the pavement seeking out corporate clientele. In addition to her many roles at Charming, Tayler has launched her own business, Gray Custom Designs, where she creates beautiful custom prints and foil designs. Gray Custom Designs will become an official part of Charming when Charming+Gray is launched late Summer 2017. Many companies have sought out Tayler’s creativity and spunk, and we could not be more pleased to have her talents at Charming.
Our “Queen of Organization”
It can be said that the best advertisement for any business is the praise of its clients. This could not be truer than with our Lead Wedding Coordinator, Sonni. It was as she was planning her own wedding that she realized her love for wedding planning. As fate would have it, Sonni and her now-husband, Corey, hired Charming to coordinate their wedding and floral design. It was through this process that Alicia recognized her skill with all things organization and asked Sonni to come on board as a member of the Charming Crew. She now leads brides through the most exciting time of their lives as they plan, coordinate, design, and live their wedding day!
Sonni is our “queen of organization,” and keeps the team and vendors on schedule as she exercises her talents. From client relations, day of event coordination, schedules, vendor contracts, and everything in between, we count on Sonni to help keep Charming just that.
Our “Yes Woman”
Our “‘Get-er-Done’ Girl”
If there is a job to do (and there always is!) Taylor will get it done. From processing flowers to setting up stunning events, no one does the job quite like her. In addition to her work as a floral assistant at weddings and events, Taylor can often be found in our store front selling amazing gifts and home decor items, or creating a one-of-a-kind bouquet for a client. Taylor is fierce in her zest for the job and in her dedication to Charming.
Our “Jolly Blonde Giant”
Managing personalities and keeping the crew light-hearted is the strength of our “jolly blonde giant,” Kaci. She can often be heard announcing, “You’re at a 10… I need you at a 2,” when the pressure is on and a deadline is approaching. In addition to her even personality, Kaci’s height is her crowning jewel on the Charming crew. She braves the heights no one else dares, and is essential for event set-up and tear-down. In addition, Kaci maintains and organizes our storage space, keeping it stocked and ready for each event. She is a softball playing momma to three kiddos and loves all things sports.
We love our business because we are in the business of helping to make dreams come true. It is this foundational trait that makes us so happy to have our intern, Ariana on board. Ariana was exposed to corporate event coordination while serving as an executive assistant, and a passion was ignited within her. After speaking to a friend about her desire to fuel her creative spirit, Charming was suggested as a company to work for in order to learn the ropes of this demanding field. We are so thankful for Ariana’s creativity, her work ethic, and her enthusiasm to learn.
Our “Prince Charming”
If ever there was a reason to do anything in this world it should be for the love of a child. Our reason for doing this insanely creative and inspiring work is to remind the smallest of our Charming Crew that dreams are most certainly within reach. Colton, Alicia’s son, is a critical part of the team, and can be found pricing goods in the storefront, cleaning flowers, counting down the register, and learning the ins and outs of hard work. While he spends his days as a 3rd grader at First Baptist Academy in Dallas, his weekends are filled with t-ball, trampoline jumping, and Charming events. Colton keeps Alicia functioning at full speed ahead and with nothing but the highest of aspirations on the horizon. When things get crazy, Colton reminds us all of why we work so hard.
